Frequently Asked Questions
Purdue University has a simple anonymous way to report suspected fraud, waste, issues of academic integrity or scholastic misconduct, or misuse of University assets, as well as regulatory noncompliance. This service allows you to communicate anonymously and confidentially via internet or telephone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How does the Hotline process work?
You may call the toll free number 1-866-818-2620 or submit an online report. An external company, takes the initial information and notifies the Internal Audit Office. The Internal Audit Office will either conduct an investigation or forward the information to the appropriate office for action.
Will I remain anonymous?
Yes, you do not have to provide your contact information unless you choose to do so. At the conclusion of your contact, you will receive a confirmation number. This number will allow you to check the status of your report and allows Purdue administrators the opportunity to ask you questions or request additional information from you, if necessary.
How will individuals reporting suspicious acts or behavior be treated?
All matters related to your report will be handled with discretion. Reporting can be done anonymously. Individuals may choose to identify themselves and will not suffer any retaliatory action for reporting or inquiring in good faith. Who is responsible for administering the program?
The Internal Audit Office is responsible for the administration of the Hotline. Any questions can be addressed by calling the Internal Audit Office at 765-494-7588, or emailing Peg Fish at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If the information is not sufficient or detailed enough, the Internal Audit Office may not be able to conduct an investigation. As an example, if the report suggests an overall evaluation of an entire department in order to find a problem, then Internal Audit will not have enough information to conduct an investigation.
Does the Hotline replace existing reporting mechanisms?
